FAQ

Under the Open Access Agreement between the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA) - Electronic Information Service (EIS) and specific publishers -  Akadémiai, American Chemical Society, Cambridge University Press, De Gruyter, Elsevier, Oxford University Press, Springer Nature, Taylor&Francis and Wiley - PTE authors may publish open access articles free of charge according to the terms below.


The University of Pécs has an open access agreement with Karger publisher for the period between 01.01.2023. to 31.12.2023.

EIS Consortium Read & Publish open access agreements


The University of Pécs (UP) has concluded Read and Publish contracts with the American Chemical Society, Akadémiai Kiadó, Cambridge Univesity Press, De Gruyter, Elsevier, LWW, SpringerNature, Taylor and Francis and Wiley within the framework of the consortium of the Electronic Information Service (Elektronikus Információszolgáltatás Nemzeti Program, EISZ). Because the contracts are read and publish, they allow the authors to have full-text access to traditionally subscribed content and the publication of open access articles. For the authors of the University of Pécs (UP), the APC (article processing) costs of the open access articles will be covered by the consortium agreement, so they may publish open access articles free of charge, according to the terms set out below. Open access agreements do not cover costs other than the article processing charge.


The University of Pécs Library and Centre for Learning supports the publication of articles published in Open Access provided that the following conditions are met:

Terms regarding the Author

The corresponding author of the publication has to be either an employee – as a doctoral school student – or a student of the University of Pécs (hereafter referred to as: UP). The AAI employee database serves to verify the status of the employee; PhD students must submit valid student status certificates to the email address below.

The corresponding author must provide UP institutional affiliation when submitting the manuscript.

The author of the claim must have a UP institutional assignment in the Hungarian Scientific Bibliography (Magyar Tudományos Művek Tára, hereinafter referred to as MTMT).

Other conditions/Please Note:

The Open Access agreements do not cover costs other than the APC, eg. the charge of color figures, offprints and submission.

The publishers check your eligibility for institutional open access publication through these agreements in three methods. Make sure you identify yourself in at least one of the following ways on the online submission form/system. Please use your institutional e-mail address (.pte);
Select Your institution from the dropdown list;
Complete the form while within your institution’s network.

Once your article has been accepted for publication in a participating journal, you will receive an email containing a link to the Copyright Clearence Center website. After the registration, click the link „seek funding from Hungarian Electronic Information Service National Programme” to submit the institutional open access funding request (without APC).

According to the agreement, the corresponding authors of the eligible Hungarian institution can publish 18 open access articles. The corresponding author needs to ask permission from the library to publish open access article from the library under instituional agreement. The first 18 applicants gets the voucher.

In 2023, member institutions will be exempt from paying APCs until 47 articles at the consortium level.

Open Access Agreement

Karger

The University of Pécs has an open access agreement with Karger publisher for the period between 01.01.2023. to 31.12.2023.
Corresponding authors affiliated with University of Pecs are eligible for full coverage of Article Processing Charge (APC) and Authors ChoiceTM Publication Fee and all additional publication costs for articles published in full Open Access and hybrid journals (subscription journals with an Open Access option).

Membership agreement and discounts

MDPI

Corresponding authors affiliated with University of Pecs receive a 10% discount on the APCs for any paper published in an MDPI journal.
Note that only one discount through an IOAP scheme is permitted per paper, and the discount cannot be combined with other available discounts (e.g., discount vouchers, or society membership discounts).
The submission system identifies the eligible corresponding author via institutional affiliation and institutional e-mail address.
The corresponding author is responsible for the payment of the invoice.
