The University Library and Knowledge Centre of the University of Pécs has curated a book exhibition that highlights the contributions and achievements of women and girls in science.

On the occasion of February 11, the University Library and Knowledge Centre of the University of Pécs has organized an exhibition in a display case that highlights the role and contributions of women and girls in science.

The International Day of Women and Girls in Science (February 11) has been observed since 2015 at the initiative of the United Nations. The aim of this international day is to raise awareness of gender equality in scientific and technical fields and to emphasize that the active participation of women is essential for the advancement of research and innovation.

The history and present of science have been shaped by the work of many female researchers, inventors, and thinkers, yet they have often received less recognition.

The books and selected quotations displayed in the showcase highlight the life paths, professional achievements, and experiences of women scientists in their scientific careers. The selection presents both historical and contemporary examples, as the presence of women in science remains a relevant and defining issue today.

Contrary to popular belief, scientific work is not only about results and publications, but also about human stories, perseverance, curiosity, and dedication. The exhibited materials illustrate, across various scientific disciplines, the many different ways in which women contribute to understanding and shaping the world.
